Everyone loves a good Ikea hack, right? This one is so easy. It takes this simple white Ikea shelf and gives it a more customized, lavish feel just by adding wood. Adding pops of color to the edges is kind of the best part, especially if it’s for a kid’s room, but leaving the wood stained is just as pretty. Take a look!
1. Plywood cut to 15 5/8 x 45 5/16 (note: one sheet of plywood gets you 6 shelves)
2. Dark walnut wood stain
3. Sample size BEHR paint
4. Ikea shelving unit
5. Dress it up with assorted baskets and bins.
Step one: Assemble your Ikea shelf.
Step two: Sand your plywood boards to prep for staining. Only stain the top surface, and don’t stain the edges if you desire to paint.
Step three: Once stain is dry, paint the edges with your desired colors.
Step four. After everything is completely dry, which could take a day or two, easily place your shelfs on to the bookcase.
Step five: Decorate with pretty storage bins and baskets, and Viola! Easy.
Project cost: $188.00 (not including decorative baskets) Not too shabby, right?
