Pirate themed party ideas
Don’t get us wrong. We have a lot of fun over on 100 Layer Cake, swooning over dresses, sparkly details, and flowers, but in the past year that Cakelet has been up, we’ve fallen deeply in love with everything to do with littles. The creativity behind the birthday parties we’ve shared have really blown us away. The possibilities are endless, aren’t they? Let’s take Lanie List, founder of Lovely Bridal for example. She celebrated her son, Archer’s first birthday with the coolest pirate themed party. Look!
This was their photo booth! It was a compilation of a bunch of Pinterest ideas (as are all of our ideas these days, right?). Each kid got a turn in the makeshift pirate ship, then Lanie printed the photos to send in their thank you cards.
Then there was the mother of the pirate ships. Lanie initially followed this model for the boat but then got crafty and painted it with black chalkboard paint so she could sketch fun designs, and add all of the little guest’s names to the side. Recognize those pillows? They’re from Ikea.
We were so inspired by Lanie’s crafty pirate party that we went out in search of other ideas that would make any one-eyed captain proud…

For snacks, you can make these fun veggie boats. You could totally decorate the entire party with this pre-made pirate party decor from Minted (bunting, cake toppers, stickers and crowns), and obviously you can’t forget to brush up on your Pirate’s glossary of terms!
