A Letters & Numbers 3rd birthday party for Lucas
Some of you out there might know Lisa, mom to Lucas and Theo, and the epic DIY-er behind this adorable “Letters & Numbers” themed birthday party. Lisa is a craftswomen by trade, as the proprietress of Good On Paper Design. (We’ve showed her work over on 100LC many times!) She went big in the creative department for Lucas’s birthday.
Such a cute, (and realistic!) party hosted at Tilden Park in Berkeley. Parties at a park give the kids so much room to run and play – plus it’s a free space!
Lisa’s homemade banana cake dipped in sprinkles… plus about a hundred banana cupcakes for the little guests.
Lisa made her invite by staging a mini-photoshoot of a PB&J she cut into words, in her kitchen! Then she added type on top and had them printed.
With little Lucas peeking out of the liner. SUCH a cute invite.
Parachute games and songs led by Lucas’s preschool teacher…
A big 3 piñata made by Lisa, following Jordan’s piñata tutorial. Lisa and her husband made it out of an old Honest diaper box (the best boxes for crafts!), and filled it with goodies like letter sticker sheets, bookmarks, 123 rubber duckies, and mini marker sets.
Chocolate letter cookies, which according to Lisa looked like blobs, but tasted really good!
Lisa made paper cones to hold donut holes from printed copies of one of Lucas’s fave books – Richard Scarry’s ABC Book. So cute!
And the pièce de résistance (if you ask us) – these amazing letter crayons that Lisa made by melting crayons and pouring the wax into molds. SOOOOO cute. Tied up in muslin bags they are the greatest birthday party favor yet.
She also got smart this year and catered the party from a yummy local restaurant - Bake Sale Betty, instead of making all the food herself. Even as a hardcore DIY-er you have to enlist help for some things, especially when you have two kids.

Happy Birthday Lucas! Really great party, Lisa. Can’t wait to see what you come up with for Theo’s first. No pressure or anything!
