This is such an amazing project, you guys. Erin de Jauregui (of Erin Hearts Court) embarked on a project 1 year ago to take a photo of their daughter Avellana every day for her first year. Such a huge commitment and outstanding work of art, this finished project. They now have over 600 polaroids of their baby girl (sometimes he took 2 or 3 in a day), and he’s still shooting.

What a treasure.

The above is just a small sample of their collection. It’s unbelievable how these tiny people look the same to us day after day, but all the while they’re transforming into walking, talking beings before our eyes.

Some thoughts on the project from Erin:

“When Courtney was pregnant, I knew I wanted to do some sort of photographic project with our daughter. I didn’t want it to be easy, I wanted a challenge, and I wanted something tangible. This led me to choose a yearlong project documenting our baby girl on instant film. Using various folding SX-70 cameras, I took at least one image of our daughter using films from the Impossible Project and found old stock Polaroid.

While I could go one about my thoughts on the various films and get technical about things, the reality is that none of that stuff matters with this project in the end. What matters is one’s ability to look at the pictures and see a story of the first year in our daughter’s life.”

Below are a few shots that encapsulate the year so you can see how beautiful this opus is up close.
